रायचरण जो कि अनुकूल बाबू के यहां नौकर है बड़े ही चाव और अपनेपन से उनके छोटे बच्चे को संभालता है। एक दिन बच्चा ज़िद करके उसे फूल तोड़ने को भेज स्वयं नदी में चला जाता है और फिर कभी वापस नहीं आता। रायचरण जिसे नौकरी से निकाल दिया गया है अपने बच्चे को अपने मालिक के बच्चे की तरह पाल कर उन्हें उसे भेंट कर देता है।

The story shows how the groom side of the family used to take upperhand in every area during a marriage settlement and the social custom like dowry issue sometimes goes to such extent that leads to death, exploitation and mental torture. In this occasion the bride ultimately died as a result of this social customary evil.
