पेटीएम (Paytm) के संस्थापक विजय शेखर शर्मा आज भारतीय युवा कारोबारियों के लिए प्रेरणास्रोत बन गए हैं. यूपी के अलीगढ़ जिले के एक छोटे से गांव के मूल निवासी और एक स्कूल टीचर के बेटे शर्मा आज फोर्ब्स की अरबपतियों की सूची में शामिल हैं i 27 साल की उम्र में विजय शेखर शर्मा 10 हजार रुपये महीना कमा रहे थे. उस सैलरी को देखकर उनकी शादी तक में मुश्किल हो रही थी. वह बताते हैं, “2004-05 मे मेरे पिता ने कहा कि मैं अपनी कंपनी बंद कर दूं और कोई 30 हजार रुपये महीना भी दे तो नौकरी ले लूं.” 2010 में शर्मा ने पेटीएम (Paytm) की स्थापना की, जिसका आईपीओ ढाई अरब डॉलर पर खुला. बहुत समय तक उनके माता-पिता को पता ही नहीं था कि उनका बेटा करता क्या है. विजय शेखर शर्मा बताते हैं, “एक बार मां ने मेरी संपत्ति के बारे में हिंदी के अखबार में पढ़ा तो मुझसे पूछा कि वाकई तेरे पास इतना पैसा है.” फोर्ब्स पत्रिका ने विजय शेखर शर्मा की संपत्ति 2.4 अरब डॉलर यानी भारतीय रुपयों में लगभग सवा खरब रुपये आंकी है.
